SUCCESS /// Wow – what a week. We cannot stress enough, how elated we are with the whole experience of our Kickstarter project, again, thank you everyone for all the support over the past 2 months. We could never have imagined that we would finish up how we did a week ago – $36,176 / 919 backers / 278% of our goal. After letting the success sink in, we are now asking ourselves the big question – “now what?” Now… I should admit, once we hit our goal on that magical August 3rd afternoon, we have been rapidly organizing, strategizing and creating for the production of our debut “Wear You Live™” line of wearable goods. Much of production is lined up, designs are created and proofed for each specific civic-minded piece of apparel. We are really excited to see our line of wearable goods come to life.
MGMT /// In preparation, we have realized that all these goods are going to take up a lot of space (duh!). I am only one person and have a live/work 1-bedroom apartment that can in no way/shape/form handle 30 boxes of civic-minded goodness. After a lot of deliberation…. thats the toughest point at this stage of the game, I rented a 10×15′ storage space that I am in the middle of up-fitting with a sleek inventory management system, sponsored by “Lowes” home improvement. As far as the deliberation process I mentioned, it has to be the toughest part of the game right. Since I have never done anything like this before, every decision is fresh – judgement is mostly made by gut/instinct with little research or hard evidence of success/demand/need to back it up.
FULFILLMENT /// When we decided to introduce 15 cities on shirts, we never really thought about how that might look on a spreadsheet when trying to fulfill 919 orders – its nuts! We have quickly realized (since we had to create our backer surveys) that even though we through we were limiting options, there are still so many variations of what people can order, making Excel my best friend over the next couple weeks. The great thing, is that the surveys I had to type in (there was not copying – every city and size you see below had to be typed in for every choice and backer level – thats 190 entries for the $100 choose 5 backer level – yeah, I know) really help to organize the data well and make it possible to get product counts and other order data extremely quickly. 86% of our backers have completed the surveys, allowing us to really gage which cities and sizes are popular. We will be sharing that with you soon!
